Many people don’t stop to consider the importance of a toilet seat. This is something we use everyday and without would cause some discomfort. It is not known when the toilet seat was invented, but many believe it was sometime in the 16^th century. Regardless, of when it was invented, the toilet seat has come very far from what it used to be. Today, there are many choices to choose from. The basic toilet seat size is an elongated or round/regular. By measuring your toilet you can easily determine the size you will need. Measuring from the bowl of the toilet to the hinges will let you know whether you will need an elongated or round seat. Elongated seats are approximately 18 ½ inches long and round seats are 16 ½ inches. The standard bolt measurement of a toilet is 5 ½ inches, that is the distance between the hinges. There are very few toilets that have a different bolt arrangement. Once you know what size seat you want is only the beginning, from there you can choose from a wide variety of colors. Heated toilet seats are becoming a popular item. These seats can be set at a temperature you like and will remain that way as long as you have it plugged in. So, every time you go to the bathroom you have a warm seat to sit on.
